Heart In The Coffee

There are some days where you can’t help but want to treat yourself to a rich coffee that you don’t get all the time. It’s the simplest luxury and I fully believe that allowing myself those moments does justice to the privilege this life gives me to know them while giving me the understanding that it’s important to share them with others.

I was thinking about how to share more of that with others and what I could give to others to make their lives easier. It was a moment where I felt overwhelmed with my gratitude for life and what I had and they happen often, those days where I can’t help but want to wander, letting my mind drift through possibilities for good things in the world, led by my feet carrying me through the world.

Once I ordered my drink at Second Cup, sitting down for a few minutes to enjoy my coffee and watch the world go by, I took the lid off and found a heart settled on the surface of the foam.

I smiled to myself and resumed looking out the window at the intersection in front of me, because I knew that what I was doing in that moment was planning for something great and the even better, is the fact that what I planned then is coming true now.

It certainly didn’t start with a cup of coffee, but finding the heart in one was exactly what I needed to know that I was on the right track with my idea and having seen it through to completion now, I can say that the heart was absolutely correct.

It really is about what we give to others.
